BOULE DE SUIF / LA MAISON TELLIER

I read "BOULE DE SUIF / LA MAISON TELLIER".  It's sensational title and a catchword, ' He portrayed society in microcosm well.' attract me. So I bought it. It is said that this is novelette. But it's a thin paperback book. It's easy to read it in a train.

Main of both contents is a prostitue. It's impressive description about human ugliness like former opinion. I  "BOULE DE SUIF" 's background is the Franco-Prussian War. Although I don't understand the period easily, I kept nodding my head about appearance of human relationship. I felt human feelings including contradiction.

From beginning to end, it's describing something objectively. So such feels isn't solemn and it's wonderful mood that I saw states of the characters dispassionately.  

I can't hate each character who I can't like meekly with irony. 

Because I cross my mind that I may do same action in a state of same condition.

It's said that "Une vie" is one of famous novels written by Maupassant. I'd like to read it.

『脂肪の塊・テリエ館』読みました。題名のインパクトと「社会の縮図を見事に描き上げた」という謳い文句につられて購入。中篇小説らしいですが、届いたのは薄い文庫本でした。電車の中で読みやすい。

内容は、両作品とも娼婦を中心に描かれたもの。前説通り、人間の醜さの描写が印象的。特に『脂肪の塊』は普仏戦争が背景となっているので、私には容易く想像できない時代なのに、描かれている人間模様は、頷くことばかり。人間の矛盾した感情が伝わってきました。

始終、客観描写なので、そんな感情すらも重々しくなく、冷静に登場人物たちの様子を眺めていられるという不思議な読み心地。

どの登場人物も素直に好きにはなれない皮肉さがあるのに憎めない。

私も同じ状況なら、似たようなことをしてしまうのではないかと頭をよぎるからかな。

モーパッサンは『女の一生』も有名らしいので、そっちも読んでみよう。

I remember as if it's new that Shinchosya Bunko with the special cover for Japanese masterpieces in last year that was interesting.

And then, in this year, I'm interested in the special cover of Kadokawa Bunko which collaborated with KAMAWANU, Tenugui (Japanese towel) brand. 

今年は角川文庫の"てぬぐい"ブランドの"かまわぬ"とコラボレートしたスペシャルカバーが気になる。

These designs are cute and tasteful.

デザインがかわいくて風情がある。

I guess they suit summer.

夏にぴったり。

I'll buy them next time before they are sold out.

今度買いにいこう。売り切れないうちに。

By the way, I bought these two books in the last year.

ちなみに、去年買った本はこの二つ。

I matched Gold with Silver.
金銀で合わせてみた。

I wanted other books but they had sold out...

他の本も欲しかったけど、しばらくしたら売り切れてた…。

I must buy also SHINCHOSHA special cover book that are released in this year too.

新潮社は今年も同様なスペシャルカバーを出してるみたいだから、そっちも買わなきゃ。

I met Sagan.

This book caught my eye after I come in a book store today. I bought this pocketbook without hesitation.

今日本屋に入ってすぐ、この本が目についた。ためらわずにこの文庫を買った。

 

I have ever hear in a some measure that words, "BONJOUR TRISTESSE" "Sagan".

『悲しみよ、こんにちは』「サガン」というコトバは、聞いた事がある程度の私が。

I felt she is interesting actually when I read it.

読み始めると、実に興味深い人。

And, her words are beautiful and sharp.

そして、言葉が、綺麗で鋭利。

I was fascinated by her in a matter of seconds.
一瞬にして魅了された。

But it is also greatly due to the ability of Tomiko Asabuki, a transrator.

それは翻訳家の朝吹 登水子さんのチカラも大いにあるけれど。

I became wanted to read Sagan's book.

サガンの本が読みたくなった。

And, to learn French.
フランス語を学びたくなった。

I felt the words are profound.

言葉の奥深さを感じた。

My word have been thought stale whenever I went through words

私が言葉を重ねる度に自分の言葉が陳腐に思えてしまうほどに。

It was such meeting.

そんな出会いだった。

This book was "a beginner's book for Sagan" which fit for me.

この本は、そんな私にぴったりの「サガン入門書」だった。
